Max and Ruby spend so much on emergencies while shopping for Grandma's birthday presents, that they just barely have enough money left for gifts.

Feeling neglected, Nora makes more and more noise to attract her parents' attention.

On Easter morning, when Ruby finds all ten of the marshmallow chicks hidden by the Easter Bunny, Grandma must quickly think of a way to make things fair for Max.

When Ruby lets go of his carriage, Max races down a hill, over a bump, up in the air, down between two trees, and back into the carriage which finally stops in a pile of leaves.

When their tea party is rained out, Max and Ruby and their friends Louise and Lily go indoors, where Grandma has arranged a treasure hunt.

At bedtime, Grandma tells Max and Ruby three favorite stories about themselves.
